Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Nascar is a 2-year-old, 12-pound pup with a name as fast as her spirit is strong. Don’t let her tiny frame fool you—this little girl is a fighter who’s already overcome more than most dogs ever face.
She came to us severely emaciated, covered in ticks, and struggling with painful eye conditions. Thanks to our incredible medical team, Nascar is now tick-free, gaining weight steadily, and receiving treatment for dry eye and a healing corneal ulcer. She’s eating like a champ and showing us every day just how resilient she is.
Emotionally, Nascar is still on a journey. She’s severely under-socialized and very fearful, especially of leashes and new people. Right now, she shows defensive behaviors when scared (growling, snapping, trying to flee), but there’s hope. She’s incredibly food-motivated and has already made progress—she’s now taking treats gently from our hands. She also finds comfort in other dogs so we think a home with another dog to show her that humans and the world isn’t such a scary place will really benefit her!
We know Nascar's future won’t be the easiest—but it could be incredibly rewarding. With patience, structure, and lots of love (and snacks!), we believe this little fighter has the potential to thrive.
