If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Elmer is a sweet, silly, and adorable dog who is ready for his forever home. He has received extensive positive training, and is fluent with skills such as sit, stay, down, heel, loose leash walking, hand targeting and knows a few cute tricks. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and non-destructive when left alone. Elmer enjoys playing games like fetch and tug, and he is a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a cuddly "ride-or-die" partner for walks and playtime.
On leash, Elmer is a well-behaved walker who prefers a relaxed pace that lets him stop to smell the roses. While he is not reactive (no barking or lunging) when seeing other dogs on walks, he is uncomfortable around them and needs a home where he is the only dog.
He currently lives in a home with 2 other dogs from whom he is kept mostly separated. To help manage his anxiety in this environment, he takes an inexpensive medication (approximately $20/mo). He may not require this once he is settled into an only-dog home.
