This handsome 3-year-old pittie mix has come such a long way. When Todd first arrived, he was thin, scared, and clearly hadn’t had an easy life. With good food, gentle care, and patience, he’s finally filling out and showing his true personality.

Todd is affectionate with the people he knows and trusts — he adores the staff who have helped him heal — but he’s cautious with new faces and needs time to feel safe. Because he’s protective of his food, toys, and people, he’ll need an experienced, adult-only home that understands resource guarding and can continue helping him build confidence at his own pace.

Todd is not cat-friendly, but he does well around other dogs and enjoys their company once he’s comfortable.

Once you earn Todd’s trust, you’ll find a loyal, goofy friend who just wants to be loved and understood.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Find an animal that you fall in love with! Ensure that you've considered the type of pet (breed, age) and your lifestyle.

2.
Submit Application

Fill out our Adoption Questionnaire by going to our website. Reference checks will be completed.

3.
Meet the Pet

Schedule a meet and greet with pet during shelter business hours.

4.
Approve Application

Application will be reviewed and approved by staff.

5.
Sign Adoption Contract

Adoption contract will be reviewed with an adoption specialist and signed.

6.
Pay Fee

Pay/Donate adoption fee.

7.
Take the Pet Home

Take you new pet home! We always recommended reading through our behavior handouts and setting up an appointment with your vet right away.

Go meet their pets

Paws and Claws Rescue & Resort is open to the public Mon-Fri from 9am-4pm. We do require you to have an appointment set up for weekend meet and greets and adoption. Please call 218-675-7297 for more information.

If you see an available pet that you fall in love with, but you are unable to come in right away to meet them, please call us for more information about the pet. If they sound like the perfect animal to complete your family, you can place an adoption hold. This non-refundable hold of $25 will apply towards your adoption fee. If you are serious about adopting a pet, this hold will ensure that no one else will be able to come in and adopt it before you have the chance. Adoption holds are good up to 2 business days after all the necessary medical and behavior tasks have been completed for the pet. Call 218-675-7297 if you see an animal that peaks your interest!

Paws and Claws Rescue and Resort is a no-kill 501(c)3 animal shelter and rescue, as well as a boarding facility in Hackensack, MN. Our mission is to save, lives, educate youth, and complete families. We Were founded in 2017 and have had over 2300 adoptions to date.
We offer dog and cat adoption, as well as boarding and daycare services by appointment. Paws and Claws also as an onsite groomer.
