Chevy is a sweet, shy, gentle kind of guy who doesn’t quite understand how he got here, in the shelter, I mean! He`s about 5 years old, and has lovely reddish brown fur with super long legs. He`s a pretty big guy, weighing around 60 pounds but he walks nicely on leash and likes to lean in for pets. He also gives kisses, too!
Chevy would love to be in a quiet, easygoing household, with older kids because of his shy nature. If you already have a doggo, bring them down to the West side for a meet-and-greet. Come on down and say hello!

All shelter locations are conducting animal viewing and adoptions on a first come, first serve basis. We are not able to move a pet from one location to another for your viewing.
The adoption fee is waived for all available pets in care and in foster homes. Standard adoption practices will still be in place, including background checks.

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) expanded the shelter days of service to seven days a week with operational hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and pet viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m for both the east and west side shelter locations.
