Kirby was rescued with numerous other animals and made his way to Longmeadow in 2016. After spending time with his family for over 7 years, he was returned to our care due to no fault of his own. He now has been through his routine quarantine and is ready to find his forever home!
Kirby is a sweet little man who could be taught to pull a cart or carry little kids. While we have not put him in training here at the Ranch, he did let one of our trainers sit on his back and he did not mind at all, so we believe he has had previous training in the past. He was unfamiliar with girthing so if his future adopter plans to put children on him with a saddle, they will need to continue his training to desensitize him to his girth and other tack.
Kirby keeps up with his friends in his paddock and would make a great companion to another horse, pony or mini. Since he is a mini his weight will have to closely watched to keep him from getting over weight and/or foundering. If his future home plans to turn him out in a pasture, he will need a grazing muzzle. We think he would do best in a home with a dry lot where his adopters can carefully monitor his hay intake.
Kirby is a kind mini who stands well for our vets and the farrier. While he is still getting used to fly spray and taking baths, we think with consistency and patience, he will be a fly spray and bath pro in no time!
Adoption Fee: $700 Height: 29in
