Introducing Otis, this stunning liver boy is 1 year 8 months old, a gentle soul with an unknown past and a heart full of love. While we don’t know his full story, we do know he’s still learning what it means to simply be a dog.
Shy at first with new people, Otis quickly shows his true colors once he feels safe. Like many Dalmatians, he’s a classic “Velcro dog” — happiest when he’s close to his person, gently pawing for attention and soaking up affection.
Otis is wonderfully adaptable. He’s comfortable in calm, quiet spaces but can also thrive in a home with more activity. The perfect fit for him would be a happy balance of both, as he’s an active boy who loves adventure. Car rides make his tail wag, and he’s always eager for a walk or a bit of playtime.
If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will stay by your side through thick and thin, Otis is ready to be your best friend.
Otis is very smart, listens incredibly well, enjoys training, learning new things and is super eager to please.
He's been good with kids 14+
Otis needs a home with NO other dogs or cats at this time; this may change with continued training classes and a committed adopter.

The first step in our adoption process is for the prospective adopter to complete our Adoption Application Questionnaire which helps us best match you with the the dog that would be most suited to your home environment and expectations.

If based on the Application Questionnaire we think one of our dogs is a good match to your home environment and expectations, we will follow up with a phone call, advise you of the adoption fee, schedule a home visit if applicable, and arrange a meet and greet with the dog. Adopters are also required to sign our Adoption Contract, you will be provided a copy of the contract for you to review and ask questions before you adopt the dog.
Note that we often have multiple applicants wanting to adopt the same dog. Our selection process is not based on whose application we receive first. It is based on who we believe will be the best match for the dog, allowing for the greatest success of a high quality, loving forever home, with the least likelihood of the dog needing to be returned to rescue.
We commit to the life of each dog we rescue, such that at any point in the life of the dog if its adopter is no longer able to keep the dog, the adopter signs our adoption contract agreeing that they will return the dog to Save The Dalmatians and Others Canine Rescue. The dog is not to be turned into an animal shelter.

Who we are: Save the Dalmatians and Others Canine Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to the rescue of Dalmatians from shelters, the promotion of adoptions of shelter Dalmatians and education of the public about the Dalmatian breed. We began in 1996 when founder Terri Haase and a friend started taking their Dalmatians to movie theaters during the showing of "101 Dalmatians" to distribute educational flyers in an attempt to stop impulse buying of Dalmatian puppies. Save the Dalmatians was formally incorporated as a California non-profit corporation in 1998. Our brochure provides more detail.
