My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chip is a very handsome, very adventurous puppy. He’s mostly Pekingese with some Japanese Chin, but his personality is pure Frenchie all the way. Think miniature, fluffy French Bulldog energy. He’s got the spunk of a Frenchie and the heart of a devoted Pekingese. In a word, he’s unique.

I feel Chip would be happiest with a job. He'd be an excellent service dog for someone who needs a compact companion with a helpful attitude. The one caveat is that he cannot be exposed to warm/sunny conditions for long periods, so he would not be a good service dog for someone who is active, outdoors, during the day (unless he had a stroller to ride in). Due to his light coat, wider nose, and longer muzzle, chip is very heat-tolerant for a Peke (or a Chin) but caution is still warranted.

Chip thrives on his raw diet, and his care must be overseen by a holistic veterinarian who supports an approved, raw-meat-based diet and avoidance of elective vaccines (rabies is mandatory). We are committed to raising dogs in a more natural, health-span-focused way, and Chip’s adopter must share this philosophy. We’re happy to help connect adopters with appropriate professional resources.

If you’re adopting a pet from any rescue or breeder, we strongly encourage learning about the risks of traditional spay and neuter, as well as modern alternatives:

We’re seeking a San Diego–based adopter so Chip can remain part of our healthy pets program. Boarding and daycare options will be available to his adopter.

Important notes: Chip must remain in San Diego and have access to a secure yard. Dog-handling experience is required. He is high-energy, strong-willed, fearless, and incredibly fast. If a door is opened by someone who doesn't have control over Chip, he may take the opportunity to bolt through. He has no natural fear of larger dogs and has nearly been bitten because he doesn’t respond appropriately to warning signals such as growling or bared teeth. For his safety, his adopter must be willing to continue training so he doesn’t approach dangerous animals. Chip currently has decent recall and will avoid dogs he’s told to avoid, but long-term reliability will depend on building a strong guardian relationship and investing consistent time and leadership (under the guidance of a professional if needed).

In short, Chip is a little dog with a huge, joyful personality. He spends every waking moment celebrating life, which is why we joke that his full name is actually “Chip Chip Hooray.”

If you could use more love and light in your life, Chip may be the perfect partner.

Additional adoption info

If we have an adoptable pet you are interested in, please message us with some details about your home/family and request an application. Please allow 5 days for a response and if you don't get one, please email again.
If you're interested in helping us keep special needs pets alive and well, please arrange a recurring weekly or monthly donation at LJK9.com Even $5/week helps a lot. Thank You.

If you wish to adopt a single kitten, please note this. Kittens who have no other kittens to grow up with can be too rough as they grow larger and don't realize their increasing strength. Humans can communicate with cats, but fall short of what other cats can teach. Single kitten syndrome is a major factor in cats being given up to shelters so please do your part in preventing this by refusing to adopt a single kitten under 12 wks of age.

Prior to applying for a pet from any rescue, Please watch The Truth About Pet Cancer (linked below) to learn about common products linked to cancer. No doumentary is perfectly unbiased, so please ignore the unsubstantiated, biased claims and those based on single events. Please pay close attention to the parts backed by convincing evidence.

Please also note that Luckydog is generally against the use of essential oils in homes with pets. Many vets recommend them because they have some beneficial effects in some pets but nobody has propertly studied the long-term effects of exposure to these oils. Even undetectable vapors from EOs can be deadly. A pet owner may not realize a pet's been exposed and that pet may go on to be diagnosed with non-specific liver or kidney disease, for example, or seizures. The problem may never be linked to the EOs in the home. I'm yet to see a veterinary laboratory order form that offers a test for EO toxicity. The only way we find out a pet's been injured by EO's is usually when they've been acutely poisoned (exposed to large amounts in a short period of time) and get extremely ill. We recommend avoiding most fragrances and EO's in a home with pets.

Luckydog is big on promoting natural, holistic, and integrative health-optimization-protocols and wil like to help you keep your pet healthy after adoption (or while being fostered). Our experts scrutinize information gathered from thousands of medical journal entries and hundreds of experts rather than simply regurgitating the opinions of a single expert or community.

What Luckydog does isn't easy but we hope that it makes pet care easy for our followers. Luckydog's goal is to ensure you have no regrets on the day that you say "goodbye" to your furkid and that that day doesn't come any sooner than it has to. With that in mind, please enjoy this video series then come to our website (a work in progress) for more information. LJK9.com is our website.
