My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Magnus here — but some of you may know me as the Vibes Manager ??. My foster mom says I bring good energy everywhere I go, and honestly? She’s right. I even sing along to music sometimes (Husky things ????).

But before I became the resident morale booster, life was rough. I was found wandering the streets of Hoffman Estates — maybe even in your backyard — and taken to a holding facility. They told me, “Just 7 days and your family will come.”
But nobody did.

I ended up waiting almost 30 days in a tiny kennel. Same four walls. Cold floor. Hardly any space to move. I’m only a year old, and all I wanted was to run, play, and just be a dog again. I got stressed, I got sad… I just shut down. Can you blame me?

Then one day everything changed. A rescue heard my story, a foster family came to meet me, and their dog loved me too. So I said PEACE OUT to kennel life and started fresh.

And let me tell you… my new beginning?
FLIPPING. FANTASTIC.

I’ve discovered tug-o-war (obsessed), learned that crates are amazing when you’re not stuck in them all day, and I run around like a goofy noodle while my foster mom laughs at me. I love every human I meet, my tail has no chill, and I’m basically a professional friend-maker.

Normally I’d tell you how I fit into your family based on what you’re looking for… but clearly that’s not working. So let’s try something different.

Do NOT adopt me if you’re:
? Not down for snuggles — because they will happen.
? Not looking for a training buddy — I’m scary smart. My default move is a perfect heel or standing between your legs like a little weirdo ??.
? Not wanting a crate-trained king — I hang out in mine like it’s my bachelor pad.
? Not wanting a dog-friendly dog — I LOVE other pups. I’ll even talk to them from across the room.

If that turns you off… yeah, definitely don’t adopt me.

But if you’re into goofy cuddles, morale-boosting energy, resting-my-head-on-your-chest like I pay rent, and a dog who follows you around like your biggest fan… then maybe we should meet.

I love my foster home, but I’m ready for a forever family I never have to leave.

So what do you say?
You bring the snacks — I’ll bring the wiggles. ????

More about this rescue

We are in need of Foster Homes for our homeless animals!!! Can you help?

What is a Foster Home?
A foster home takes in one of our homeless animals rather than boarding them at the kennel and cares for it until we find a permanent loving home. Almost Home Foundation pays for the all animal's food and medical expenses. The foster home learns the animal's temperament and behaviors. The foster home learns if they get along with other animals. The foster home provides insights on the animals that helps Almost Home Foundation look for the right home for the animal.

Please help!! Just fill out this form and we will contact you or call 630-582-3738 and leave a message letting us know that you are interested in fostering!

We are an all-volunteer, registered, not-for-profit 501c3 animal rescue group. Our mission is to save adoptable dogs and cats from being destroyed by finding permanent, loving homes. For details, visit us online at www.almosthomefoundation.org.

Almost Home Foundation is always looking for volunteers to handle dogs at adoption shows, set up adoption shows, write for the newsletter, photograph events, or foster animals. For a list of opportunities, visit online at www.volunteermatch.org
or www.almosthomefoundation.org.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are a Rescue not a Shelter. This simply means we do not own a building where we house animals. We look for loving foster homes that will give temporary care and love on the animal’s journey to a permanent, loving home. When a foster home is not available, we will board the animal at a boarding kennel.

Our 5-year goal is to have a shelter. This is an aggressive goal that will take many donations and memberships. We will strive for this goal with a great team of volunteers and help from people like you! Please become a member, become a sponsor or make a donation.

Our animals are found strayed and brought in from the police. After being held for 7 days, we evaluate the temperament of the animal and determine if the animal is suitable to be a pet. On rare occasion, we will also rescue animals that are in desperate situations where the rescue makes the difference between life and death. We do not accept Owner Give-ups.
