My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say Hello to Tequila Lime 👑🐾
This fabulous gray tabby mama has raised her kittens like a champ, and now she’s ready to rule her own little kingdom—whether it’s a cozy home, a sunny porch, or a barn with mice to chase.

She’s independent, opinionated, and full of cattitude. If you’re looking for a lap cat… she might consider it—on her terms. 😼 But if you want a fierce little lady who keeps it real and runs a tight ship, she’s your girl!
Tequila Lime would thrive as a barn cat, indoor/outdoor queen, or even a house cat with people who respect her boundaries and appreciate her spunky charm. She's not just a cat—she's a whole personality.

Bonus: She’s an excellent supervisor, will yell at you for being late with dinner, and promises to keep your rodent population under control.

If you like your cats with a little fire and a lot of style, apply to meet this feisty mama. She’s got places to explore, naps to take, and a whole new life to start. 💅An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $200.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.
Cats and kittens are a donation of choice.

More about this shelter

At DeKalb Humane Society, we are passionate about finding forever homes for the pets in our care. Whether they are cats, dogs, or other furry friends, our mission is to provide them with a loving and nurturing environment.

We also believe in the importance of education about responsible pet ownership. We strive to educate our community about pet welfare, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.

By adopting a pet from us, you are not only gaining a lifetime companion, but you are also contributing to our cause and helping us raise awareness. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals.

The DeKalb Humane Society filed for our Certificate of Incorporation on December 23, 1975 and we were granted 501(c)3 status in March of 1976. We are committed to being a no-kill shelter and serving the DeKalb County area.
