This helps Australian Shepherds Furever - Redwood Estates, CA Chapter with pet care costs.
Meet Blaze – A Devoted 5-Year-Old Australian Shepherd Seeking His Forever Home
Blaze is not your typical high-octane Aussie.
He’s the steady, soulful, Velcro kind.
At 5 years old, Blaze is neutered, fully up to date on vaccines, and wonderfully even-keeled (energy level: about a 3/10). He prefers a relaxed “sniffari” and a 15–20 minute daily walk over long hikes or runs. After that? He’s happiest sleeping on the floor beside your bed or quietly keeping watch over his people.
Blaze came to us through an owner surrender when his family moved into an HOA condo that only allowed one dog. This wasn’t about behavior — it was about circumstance. And he has handled the transition like an absolute champ.
What We Love About Blaze:
• Sweet, soft, and huggable
• Devoted and protective in the best way
• Quiet (except to alert you when the Amazon driver arrives!)
• Highly crate trained — he loves his crate
• Fully house trained
• Knows his basic commands
• Steps right into his harness for walks
• Great with most kids
• Has tolerated cats in limited interactions (no cat home currently)
• Gets along with other dogs, though may show mild herding tendencies
Health & Lifestyle
Blaze has had a successful TPLO surgery on one knee and takes two daily joint supplements. Because of this, he does best in a home with carpeted stairs or a single-level layout. He is perfectly content with moderate daily activity and does not require intense exercise.
Personality & Home Match
Blaze is a sensitive, intelligent Australian Shepherd who communicates clearly. He may offer a gentle growl when unsure, and he thrives with people who understand and respect herding breeds.
He bonds deeply and wants to be close to his humans — this is a dog who truly wants to be your companion.
He would do well as an only dog or with a confident canine sibling in a calm, stable home.
Adoption Details
Blaze is currently being fostered in Tennessee.
