My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wire-Haired Terrier Mix
Age: 2 years old
Female, spayed
11 lbs

Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations)

Brie came to us from the Sacramento County shelter with a fractured front leg. It was assumed that she may have been hit by a car, but the surgeon who repaired the fracture thought is more likely from being dropped, stepped on or maybe jumping from a high place). We got the leg fixed (and tried our best to keep her calm and confined during his recovery - an impossible task for a terrier). She should be as good as new, but as with any fracture, arthritis will develop over time.

She is very friendly, dog that demands lots of attention from her humans. Her dog-on-dog skills are rather poor, but we are working on that. All of her dog issues happen when we introduce new dogs into her area, she is initially pretty aggressive in an overly-stimulated way. Stern correction leads to her settling down and then interacting with the new dogs in an appropriate manner, and even eventually playing, if the other dog is game. Once the initial introduction is complete, there have been no issues with those other dogs, so far.

Should she be the only dog or go with another dog(s)? She has lots of energy and wants lots of attention. Having another dog that she can eventually bond with, might take the pressure off of her human family to provide her with all the attention she craves, especially if she is to be left alone during the day.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We specialize in "hard to place dogs" due to their breed, age, minor behavioral or medical conditions. We strive to keep our fees reasonable ($125), and we have sponsorship funds to help with fees, if needed.

After the application is approved, the prospective adopter must take the dog on a trial-basis "sleepover" for a few days, before finalizing the adoption.

We require landlord approval if the applicant is renting their living space.

We only do adoptions in San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding regions.

We DO NOT adopt to families with children under the age of 13.

More about this rescue

We specialize in finding homes for dogs where “imperfection” is tolerated in exchange for a lifetime of love and devotion.

Our foster dogs have been discarded by the people they once trusted, only to find themselves in a shelter with no other options.

We want them to have a second chance to receive the love and care they deserve.
