If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
Duke is a purebred Bluetick Coonhound. We have had him since he was 6 weeks old and he is now about 2.5 years old.
We recently had a baby and we have been trying to make it work with Duke and the new baby but it has proved to be do difficult and we aren't able to give Duke the attention he requires to exhaust his energy or remain diligent with his training.
He is an incredibly intelligent dog, and can learn very quickly. He LOVES to be part of our family and will thrive where he can be part of the "pack". He knows several commands like sit, place, and heel. We walks well on the leash but will occasionally bark at passersby or try to chase a squirrel or a fox. He has a very high prey drive and will not be suitable for a house with cats or other small animals.
If you know about Coonhounds they can be loud. He has a very loud bark and will use his voice to alert us to the mailman daily. He can also be quite scared of the unknown and enjoys the comfort of a familiar home.
