My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Whiskers is a loving, energetic boy. His favorite toy is a catnip bow tie, which he carries around the entire apartment. He is a fan of sprinting about the house, sometimes throwing a little parkour into the mix. He does not like closed doors and desperately tries to scratch them open. He is also not a huge fan of being held, but he does love laps and pets and scritches. He will follow you around and try to jump into your lap, no matter where you are sitting. This guy will add light and laughter to anyone who meets him, and would love to be a source of it in your home!

Whiskers was rescued with dental issues and had surgery. We would be thrilled for a potential adopter to provide a larger adoption donation (between $250 and $400 total) and/or assistance crowdsourcing funds towards their necessary vet bills if possible.

This cat would prefer to be adopted alone and be the only cat in the home.

By appointment only. We offer to drive prospective adoptive prospects to the foster home. We also deliver pets to their new homes.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
