Hi, I’m Buddy! I’m a big, handsome guy at about 80 pounds. My current friends think I'm most likely a GSD/Malinois combo. I'm not one of those crazy energy types but I do have energy to burn and will need regular walks, play, adventures and car rides, I love car rides. I walk fairly well on leash, but I do pull pretty hard at times, especially when I need to smell that perfect tree—I’m working on it!
I’m a friendly boy and have been meeting lots of new people. Everyone is so nice to me and I love all the attention (I'm told I'm quite handsome!!). I was fine at the vet getting my ears cleaned and just a general check up. I was a little nervous and my current mom-person just slipped a muzzle on for my safety. I didn't mind at all and the vet said I really didn't need it. I do great going into stores, walking through people, taking treats, traffic isn't scarey, etc.
I would prefer a gentle but confident leader—someone who can guide me firmly without being too harsh. I'm a big, active boy but I am also kind of sensitive. I've been ok around kids but not sure how I would be around really young carpet crawlers. When we are playing and I get a little rambunctious, I can get just a little mouthy (it's the maligator thing) but it's just because I'm having so much fun.
I get along well with other dogs and enjoy their company. Sometimes I'm a little over the top and I do have a 'chase' switch so that needs to be monitored. I'm not too fond of really pushy dogs that want to get in my face and might bark back at one but stop when my person tells me to. I’m also a TOTAL squirrel fiend—chasing them is my favorite sport! If I spot one, I want to chase, I can't help it. If I could climb a tree I think I would. That said, I’m definitely not a cat or small critter guy!
I’m a smart boy and already know sit, down, shake, and wait (even though waiting is tough for me). I’ll happily jump up on whatever you ask, I ride great in the car, and I mostly ignore people and other dogs when out walking. My recall still needs work, but don’t worry—I’m not a runner. What I really want is to bond deeply with my person or family. I’ll be loyal and devoted, and the bestest boy. It’s important that my new family helps me learn and likes to train smart dogs like me. I will be an epic companion!!!

BAGSR is always in need of fosters. There is an overwhelming number of dogs who need our help and the more fosters we have, the more dogs we can save. BAGSR covers expenses, including food. Fosters provide the love and a soft place to crash.
