Take the Pet Home
This helps Loved At Last Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
Hi there! My name is Maggie and here is some info about me:
PHYSICAL INFO:
Whippet/Retriever mix
4 years old (almost 5)
Female
Exact weight to follow but is assumed to be 52 lbs
Highlights: friendly but shy, loves attention, food motivated, loves to play with other dogs and to be petted by her humans
RECENT HISTORY: I have lived in an apartment in the city for the past 3.5 years. I have been a bit timid with visitors and dogs who I don't know but I am a friendly gal once I become acquainted with you. I am needing a new home because my humans now have a baby and I am not a dog that easily adjusts to such a young human in the home. My current humans want the very best for me as they love me dearly and know that a new home with another dog to whom I'm properly introduced (on a nice walk with lots of things to sniff) will be great for me. I will be a loving and loyal dog for any adults and older kids who share their heart with me.
RESCUE STORY: My rescuer found me on the streets with the rest of the litter that I was a part of. Only half of us survived, and lucky for me I was one of them! I'm a very friendly dog, but I can be a bit shy around new people. Once I get to know you, I love attention! I'm easily trainable as I am food motivated and love treats. I love being around both humans and dogs, and I love to play and cuddle with my humans.
TEMPERAMENT:
ENERGY LEVEL:
Low to Medium
GETS ALONG WITH:
Kids – Older kids only
Dogs – YES
Cats – NO
PREY DRIVE: YES
TRAINING: House trained, can walk well on leash
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems!
Basic training should be taken seriously and should begin within a day or two of arrival. After your dog has settled in, check out courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
HEALTH NOTES:
I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, & micro-chipped.
ADOPTION FEE:
My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes.

Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website.

Take the Pet Home
As adopters of overseas dogs will be taking their dog home from the airport, they have a couple of weeks to decide if the dog is a fit.
