Their adoption process

We allow both in state and out of state adoptions.
Our adoption fee is $250. Out of state adopters are responsible for any transport costs.
All of our dogs have been spayed/neutered, given age appropriate vaccinations, microchiped, as well as screened and started on any treatments they may need. They are also started on flea and heartworm prevention. The adoptive owners will be responsible for continued medications that the dog may need as well as any additional vaccinations, both yearly and booster, for the adopted dog.

The first step to adoption is an application which can be filled out at http://carolinacoonhoundrescue.com/Adoption_Application.php.

This application must be filled out prior to setting up any meetings or overnight visits. Once the decision is made to adopt we will need payment of the adoption fee and a signed contract. If the dog is adopted out of state, payment of the adoption fee is due once transport is arranged but before the dog leaves Charleston SC.

More about this rescue

Carolina Coonhound Rescue was started in June of 2010. It was started to help hounds in South and North Carolina get a second chance at a family life. Many hounds in our area are used for hunting purposes only and are far to easily thrown away by hunters who no longer need them...that's where we come in. We take hounds from shelters who are no longer wanted, get them healthy, and find new homes for them.

We are an all volunteer based rescue. We don't have a shelter facility and rely on foster homes to save these dogs and to give them a place to stay until they can be placed into forever homes. We work hard to save as many hounds as we can from shelters. We are the only Coonhound Specific rescue in South Carolina.
