My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gypsy – A Gentle Senior Looking for Love

Gypsy is a gentle 10-11 year-old orange and black calico lady whose soft spirit and quiet sweetness make her truly special. After being rescued years ago from a prior abandonment, she found love and stability with her owner. Sadly, due to personal circumstances, her person could no longer care for her and had to move out of state to tend to family—leaving Gypsy once again in search of a safe, loving home.

Gypsy may be shy right now, but her warmth still shines through. She loves soft pets, gentle voices, and peaceful moments spent with her person. Once she settles in, her affection and gratitude will fill your home with quiet joy.

This bashful sweetheart tends to keep to herself until she feels secure, often finding cozy hiding spots to nap or bask in the sunlight. But when she trusts you, she reveals her tender heart—curling up on your lap, napping across you at night, and gently pawing your hand to ask for more affection. She has never hissed, scratched, or bitten, and her loving, delicate nature endears her to everyone she meets.

Gypsy would be happiest in a quiet home where she can spend her golden years close to someone who loves her as much as she’ll love them. She would be forever grateful to find her permanent person and never have to move again.  She’s neat, clean, and ladylike—meticulously grooming herself each day and always using her litter box perfectly. She prefers dry food, is not much of a treat or toy enthusiast, but now and then, she’ll surprise you with adorable late-night zoomies and soft chirps as she playfully “talks” to herself.

While she would be deeply grateful for a foster home to help her adjust, what Gypsy truly dreams of is a permanent and final home filled with peace, warmth, and gentle love. She longs to be near her person, offering quiet companionship, loyalty, and the comfort of a faithful friend who has weathered much—but still has so much love to give.

If you’re looking for a loving senior companion who will return your care with deep devotion, Gypsy is waiting to share her heart with you

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like bridges between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats and dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please visit: https://fancycats.org/volunteer

Additional adoption info

Our adopters fill out an application that screens for problems that may be detrimental to our cats and kittens. Once the adopter is approved we provide veterinary referrals which help with low cost spays or neuters for the kittens that are too young at the time of adoption. We are always available to help with behavioral issues that arise. We provide numerous information sheets in our adoption folders, plus the medical background of each cat. The only fees involved with our program are adoption fees that offset our veterinary bills.

More about this rescue

Fancy Cats Rescue Team was founded to provide the community a "safety net" for cats and kittens that are abused and abandoned, or added to the euthanasia list at the shelters that we are currently participating with. We are a 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit Organization and participate with the United Way/CFC #8929. The goal is to have no kill shelters in place. Education and responsible pet ownership are the foundation of our organization. Our program provides literature, counseling, referral services and educational resources to families and individuals needing guidance. Teaching people responsible pet guardianship by spay and neutering their pets, behavioral modification and health concerns. We also provide a mentoring environment for our youth volunteers where they can learn the rewards of community service while caring for animals that need their gentle, loving kindness. They also interact with the community providing self-confidence and the ability to interact with a variety of cultures and diverse backgrounds. Once an animal is received into our program, they remain with us until a safe, appropriate home is found. They are never euthanized based on their age or space limitations. They are given appropriate medical care, immunizations, spays or neuters and endless hours of tender, loving care. We are an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. We are funded by community donations, 91% goes toward the care and well being of our animals. Our adoption fees help offset our veterinary bills.
