Hi, I’m Java. I’m a Yellow Lab mix, 2.5 years old, about 65 pounds, and yes, I’m blind in both eyes. I may still see shadows, but I get around just fine using my other senses. I’m neutered, up to date on all my shots, heartworm negative, and ready for my next chapter.

I lost my vision a while back, and after that, my family took me to the shelter. They didn’t have space for a dog like me anymore. It happens, but it doesn’t mean I’ve lost my joy or my hope. I may be blind, but I’m still full of life, love, and a whole lot of personality.

I’ve learned to adapt quickly to new environments. Once I get the lay of the land, I’m good to go. You don’t need to change your house or move your furniture. Just give me a little time, and I’ll learn my way around. I’m a smart guy, and I never give up. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s mastered the art of resilience, that’s me.

I love to take long walks. I may not see the path, but I sure love to smell it, hear it, and feel the world beneath my paws. I get along great with other dogs and have met a few cats too — we just kind of do our own thing. I don’t chase, and I don’t bother them. I’d probably do best with older kids, maybe 12 and up, only because I don’t want to accidentally knock over the little ones when I get excited.

And I do get excited. I love meeting new people. I love belly rubs. I love being part of your day, whether we’re out walking or curled up together on the couch. I’ve been through some hard things, but I’m still hopeful. Still grateful. Still ready for love.
