Sweet, happy, outgoing Emu was found stray and ended up in an overcrowded southern shelter. He is an active, playful, and loving puppy. He is a true mixed breed with Embark identifying more than six breeds. He is around 8 months old and currently about 25-30 lbs. He is expected to be about 40 lbs when fully grown.
Emu is a loving and affectionate guy. He has done amazing with some one-on-one training at his current foster home. He has learned to regulate his play and is enjoying playtime as well as snuggle time. As much as he enjoys playtime, he can also be easily entertained with a chew toy. Like any puppy, he needs some scheduled downtime. He’s doing great with housetraining and is learning to use bells to go outside. Emu will do best with someone home a lot and a fenced in yard to burn off some energy. He would love another playful dog, but a large pack might be too overwhelming for him. He is a wonderful hiking buddy and has the stamina to hike for miles. He is gentle and would be a wonderful family dog for kids over 6 as he may knock over smaller children with his exuberance. Emu is being fostered in western Massachusetts and is available for visits.

Happy Life Beagle Rescue is a foster based rescue. We do not have a physical shelter where you can visit our dogs. All our dogs are in foster homes throughout the New England area or in the south waiting to be transported north.

Happy Life Beagle Rescue, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, is a 100% volunteer run rescue established in 2022. We're a new rescue, however, collectively our Adoption Counselors have been rescuing beagles for decades. All have experience with other rescues, as well as being beagle lovers and owners themselves. Currently, the core volunteers within the rescue have 15 beagles between them.
Our combined experience and knowledge about the breed provides us with a wealth of information to draw from to make the best placements possible, as well as offer support to our adopters.
