Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Xaden!
At 3 years old and 71 lbs, Xaden is truly such a good boy — the kind of dog who blossoms once he’s away from the shelter. Give him a little space and a little time, and you’ll see the sweet, loyal, goofy companion he really is.
Xaden is easy to get out of the kennel, though his excitement may lead to an enthusiastic jump or two. On leash, he starts off strong, but once he has a chance to release some energy and get farther from the shelter, he settles beautifully. He goes potty right away outside and has no accidents, showing signs that he may be housetrained.
This smart guy hops into the car on his own and, after a short restless period, settles in nicely — especially if he can stick his head out the window (or even the sunroof!). He loves treats, takes them with impressive gentleness, and proudly shows off his “sit” and “shake.” He is also a total star for bath time.
Xaden enjoys exploring, sniffing and strolling with purpose. He may need a little time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, he becomes a complete Velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be close. One of his favorite things is sitting on your feet with his back against you, watching the world with quiet devotion.
While Xaden is listed as an only dog due to reactivity at the shelter, he is much less reactive — and often completely nonreactive — when out in public. He even ignores wildlife like squirrels and birds. Throughout the day, he relaxes, soaks up affection, and happily shows off his belly to everyone he meets in the adoption room.
Due to his size and strength, Xaden does best in a home with teenagers or adults. In the right environment, he is an incredibly loyal and loving companion just waiting for his person to find him.
As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.
To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
