Red Velvet is a cute male kitten who was brought to the HSOV on August 17, 2025 along with his sister (Funfetti) and their mother (Cupcake). This little family was found in the Walmart Parking Lot (Pike Street in Marietta Ohio) by a Good Samaritan who kept them safe in her home for a week or so before bringing them to the safety of our shelter. Red Velvet and Funfetti were tiny 8-week old babies at that time.
Red Velvet has a brown tabby short smooth coat, a long ringed tail, and an adorable kitten face with golden eyes, a brown velvet nose, and long white whiskers.
Red Velvet was given vaccinations and Pyrantel wormer on August 25, 2025 and was given booster vaccines on September 12, 2025. Red Velvet weighed 2.3 lbs when he entered our shelter on August 17th.
Since Red Velvet and his sister Funfetti have been fully weaned, they were separated from their mother Cupcake and are currently sharing a large cat tower with another pair of kittens about their same age/size. Momma Cupcake is enjoying some leisure time after raising two happy, socialized youngsters.
These photos of Red Velvet were taken on September 15, 2025 while he scampered around our 'studio' among the fall foliage and pumpkins. Red Velvet is quite the playboy and loved batting tiny toy balls across the countertop.
Red Velvet will be neutered in the near future and will soon be ready to find a loving home of his very own. Naturally we hope that he will be adopted with his sister Funfetti or have another playmate to share his new home.
Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.
Red Velvet was neutered on December 18, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. He weighed 8 lbs that day.
