My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Matilda 🐾

Sweet Matilda’s story is one of quiet strength and second chances. 💛

She came to us after facing some tough days, but the moment she realized she was safe, her whole spirit began to shine. Matilda is around 3 years old, weighs about 51 lbs, and has the most soulful eyes that seem to say, “I’m ready to love and be loved.”

This gentle girl enjoys slow walks, soft blankets, and just being near people who make her feel secure. She’s calm, affectionate, and has a heart full of gratitude for every kind word and gentle touch.

Matilda is ready for her forever home — a place where she can be part of a family who sees the beauty in giving a deserving dog a new beginning. 🏡💛

More about this shelter

A not-for-profit organization, Monroe County Friends of Animals help the County by raising funds to build a new facility for our animals. It is called the Eastbourne Animal Center and has now replaced the old Monroe County Animal Shelter. They provide volunteers, fundraising events, grant writing and more. There is always a need for more volunteers. With a small budget, donations are a welcome necessity. We have developed educational programs to promote spay/neuter and humane care of all animals.
