My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I`m Balderdash and I am a Priority Pet because I have Swimmer Syndrome.

As a Priority Pet, Pawmetto Lifeline is offering FREE basic medical care for LIFE!
That includes:
Annual exams for life at Pawmetto Lifeline
Core vaccines for life at Pawmetto Lifeline
Cost of medications plus 10% (*excludes HW/flea prevention) through Pawmetto Lifeline

Swimmer syndrome is a congenital condition sometimes seen in young kittens, where the legs—most often the hind limbs—splay out to the sides instead of tucking underneath the body. These kittens may have a frog-like posture, with hips jutting outward and feet pointing sideways. Because of this, standing and walking can be very difficult, or even impossible, without help.
While many kittens are born with swimmer syndrome, they are too often euthanized—despite the fact that the condition is highly treatable with early intervention and physical therapy. If you’ve recently rescued or are fostering a kitten with swimmer syndrome, don’t lose hope. With timely care, dedication, and simple at-home therapies, you can give the kitten a real chance at walking, playing, and living a happy, healthy life.

My adoption fee of $50 includes up-to-date vaccinations, dewormer, and heartworm/flea prevention. Plus, a microchip that is already registered to you! What more could you ask for?

If you`d like to meet me, please fill out an application on our website, PawmettoLifeline.org. Adoptions are by appointment Tuesday through Thursday, Friday and Saturday are walk in from 10-5.

More about this shelter

Pawmetto Lifeline, formerly Project Pet, was founded in 1999. Since the opening of our adoption, medical, and boarding facility in Spring 2012, we have been able to save more than 15,000 companion pets from euthanasia and gave them a new lease on life. We continue to strive toward the goal of a no-kill community and state through adoption, pet retention, rescue partnerships, and medical services.
