My foster writes: I'm Harper, the sweetest girl you'll meet. I enjoy being by your side and make the best companion. I'm good on the leash and will listen when you call my name even if I'm distracted by other dogs. I enjoy laying on the couch and riding in the car. I need to be the only dog in the house. With my foster I've learned to stop jumping on people when I'm excited. I'm eager to learn and brush up on my manners through positive reinforcement. I enjoy lots of attention and praise. I would make a great family dog.
My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: On my borough break yesterday, I had the pleasure of spending the day with this amazing soul. She enjoys walks in the park, car rides, takes treats gently. Harper also is leash trained and walks by your side with minimal to no pulling. Throughout the entire time we were with her, she never showed any signs of aggressive behavior towards adults and children. It was easy for us to get her in and out of my car. She enjoyed the ride and was very relaxed. She is house broken and will let you know when she needs to go out. As an added bonus she loved to give kisses. Harper is the perfect embodiment of warmth and affection. Her love for people and her gentle nature shine brightly. With such a loving personality, Harper surely brings light into every room she enters. Her forever home will be so lucky to welcome her.
Oh my gosh, I LOVED HARPER! She is truly an incredible dog. When she first came out of her kennel, she was shy and hesitant to leave the shelter, but the second we got in the car and headed to McDonald's (she's a HUGE fan of chicken nuggets and fries!), she completely came out of her shell. We visited two different parks and walked over 4 miles together. Her tail never stopped wagging, and for about half the walk she proudly carried a toy in her mouth. She was an absolute love bug, soaking up pets, leaning her whole body into me, and just wanting affection. We passed tons of dogs throughout the day; she'd glance at them but was super easy to redirect with a kissing noise or a treat. She loved greeting people too, and was so polite at Petco, she literally stood in line and waited her turn like a little lady. Harper really is such a wonderful dog. I hope someone gives her the chance she deserves, because she is a completely different dog outside the shelter. It absolutely broke my heart bringing her back especially because she didn't want to walk to her kennel until I walked with her.
Harper first came to us via police 3 years ago when they found her wandering the streets. She was returned to her guardian not too long after that. Most recently, she was found again as a stray by a good samaritan in August. She has been quite the toy connoisseur with staff too, parading and tossing her toys around the room. During her greet with a female dog, she had a soft frame and wagging tail. She approached the other dog gently and creates distance when she becomes uncomfortable. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 73.6 Age: 8yrs 3mths 2wks
