Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Charlie!
Charlie is a 4-year-old Lab mix weighing 82 pounds, and he’s every bit the lovable goofball you’d expect! Full of smarts and silliness, Charlie is affectionate, toy-obsessed, and always ready to make his people laugh with his big personality.
This clever boy isn’t just playful—he’s also a pro at showing off his tricks! Charlie knows sit, down, shake/paw, high five, and even speak. He loves having the chance to learn and perform, especially when there are treats involved.
Charlie would do best in a home with kids 13 and up who can respect his boundaries and give him space when he needs it. When it comes to other dogs, Charlie prefers to be the center of attention and may be happiest as the only pup in his new home. And because cats just aren’t his style, he’ll need a feline-free household too.
If you’re searching for a big-hearted, playful companion who’s equal parts goofy and loving—with a few party tricks up his sleeve—Charlie may be the perfect match!
Come meet Charlie at the Humane Society of Summit County, 752 West Portage Trail, Akron, OH 44313, or call us at 330-487-0333 ext. 803 to learn more!

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.
We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.
Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter
Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
