Vivan came to us as a stray in Syracuse and weighs about 49 pounds. Vivian is a super sweet girl who truly blossoms once she’s out of her kennel. She patiently sits to be leashed, is easy to handle, and walks nicely—even in nasty weather, she stays happy and smiling.
She knows sit and shake, takes treats very gently, and is a good listener, especially when treats are involved. Vivian is friendly and social, wagging her tail at people she passes and showing polite interest in other dogs without fixating.
One of her cutest quirks is that if you crouch down, she sits right between your legs, back to you, content to stay close while watching the world. She isn’t very interested in photos, but she loves attention and pets. Vivian is a truly good girl with a warm, affectionate personality.

If you decide on the pet you meet, they will be put in for a pre-adoption vet check. It can take up to a week for your pet to come home.

So you’re ready to add a family member to your home! Well you’re at the right place! To begin, you can view our animals available for adoption online, but there’s nothing like the real thing. We welcome you to come to our shelter and spend some time getting to know our animals in person.
To start off, please review the adoption guidelines below to speed up the adoption process:
1. Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
2. All adoption applications must be filled out completely.
3. An adoption application must be completed before any animal can be taken out for a visit. No animal will be taken out for a visit prior to this time.
4. You will need picture ID, with name and current address, to photo copy onto your application.
5. Any animal on a HOLD cannot be taken out for a visit until its holding time is up and it is available for adoption.
6. All dogs MUST be licensed with your Town prior to leaving the CNYSPCA, ask adoption counselor for further details.
