My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oswald is a handsome senior male Tuxedo who has the dubious honor of being our longest in-shelter HSOV kitty. Oswald was brought to HSOV on May 27, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Pleasant Ridge Road near Marietta Ohio. Oswald was estimated to have been 9-1/2 years old at that time, and had an unspecified injury .. And he was in desperate need of extra medical care/TLC which he has been given every single day by our compassionate HSOV kennel techs.

Oswald has a gray-and-white mediumhaired coat in a tuxedo pattern, white socks on his paws, a long fluffy tail, and an adorable chubby face with golden eyes, a gray velvet nose, and extra-long white whiskers.

This older gentleman has become a favorite of our kennel techs/shelter staff. Oswald is given extra privileges and enjoys out-of-cage time in the Intake Room where he is often seen lounging on a blanket-covered chair or taking a nap on the small weigh-in scale.

Oswald is up-to-date on vaccinations, flea treatment and wormer. He was combo tested on August 15, 2024 and is negative for feline leukemia, FIV/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, and Heartworm.

Oswald likely has chronic URIs (upper respiratory infections, i.e. "kitty colds") and would probably do better if he were in a real home environment instead of a shelter environment.

These photos of Oswald were taken on July 4, 2025 when HSOV Kennel Techs Emma Dahlgren and Hannah McClain helped him with his first official photo session. Oswald pranced around like a pro and then begged Emma to pick him up in her arms. He gave us some cute poses looking over Emma's shoulder before returning to his small shelter cage.

Oswald was neutered on September 25, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. He weighed 8.4 lbs that day.

We hope that a compassionate individual will give Oswald a loving home where he can relax and enjoy his golden years being spoiled to his heart's content. Oswald will likely undergo a dental procedure before (or after) his adoption.

Happy Update: Oswald was adopted on November 22, 2025. We had become very attached to this sweet senior guy since he had been with us for 18 months, and we know that we will miss Oswald and his quiet easygoing personality .. But we are thrilled that he has found a loving family who will pamper him 24/7.

His new family sent a message with an update the first evening he was in their home saying that Oswald had already settled in nicely .. And included a photo of Oswald watching television which made our hearts happy!
