My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gia
2.5-year-old Cane Corso | Female | All-Black Beauty

Gia's story is one of quiet resilience. This stunning Cane Corso girl was recently rescued from the shelter (DACC), thanks to a big push from our rescue team who just knew she deserved a second chance.

At 2 ½ years old, Gia is still coming out of her shell and learning that the world can be a safe and gentle place. Whatever she went through before, it left her a little reserved—but not broken. Every day, Gia shows us more of her sweet, calm spirit. She’s incredibly relaxed and easy to be around.

She feels most comfortable with women and bonds quickly with them. Men might need to go a bit slower—she’s shy at first—but with a little patience and kindness, she warms up and lets her guard down.

Gia isn’t the kind of dog who demands the spotlight. She’s the quiet type, happiest when she can just be near someone she trusts. Whether it's lounging at your feet or giving you those soft, soulful eyes from across the room, Gia's presence is grounding.

She’s still decompressing from her time in the shelter and would thrive in a calm, stable environment with people who understand that healing takes time.

Looking for:
A patient, loving home (female-led or understanding of her sensitivities around men), ideally quiet and predictable. Gia is a gentle soul who just wants to feel safe and loved.

If you're looking for a low-key, loyal companion who just needs a little time to show you her full heart, Gia might be your girl.

More about this rescue

WHO WE ARE: The Buster Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and re-homing pit bulls and bully breed mixes. Through decades of cruelty, unethical breeding and irresponsible ownership, a once beloved family dog has now found itself the victim of discrimination and abuse, and a source of misdirected public fear. We believe that every dog is an individual, deserving of a loving home, proper care, and a fair shake, regardless of breed. We hope our efforts lead to a better educated and more compassionate public.

The Buster Foundation is an ALL VOLUNTEER organization, and does not operate a shelter. All Buster dogs are cared for in foster homes by volunteers who commit their homes and free time to rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption efforts.

We respect our volunteer's fierce commitment to our dogs and trust you will understand why we cannot always respond immediately to requests and inquiries. We make every effort to have a volunteer respond to inquiries and questions within 72 hours. We thank you for your understanding and patience! Please try again if you do not receive a response within 72 hours.
