Tux may be missing a leg, but he makes up for it with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Once a scrappy, possibly feral stray, Tux started visiting our porch for meals and slowly became part of our lives.
In May 2025, he returned limping from an animal bite that led to a serious infection. We learned he was FIV+ and needed a leg amputation to survive. Tux pulled through surgery like a champ and is now thriving indoors. He’s adjusted well to home life — affectionate, food-obsessed, vocal, and playful. He loves string toys and butt scratches but can get a little overstimulated when excited, so a cat-savvy, calm home would suit him best. Loud noises and quick movements still make him a bit nervous, but his trust grows more every day.
Tux is FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), but he's in good health and can live a long, happy life with proper care. FIV+ cats do best with regular vet checkups, a balanced diet, and a safe, loving home. They make amazing, affectionate companions — don’t overlook an FIV+ kitty like Tux!
Tux is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, routinely treated for fleas and worms, and tested negative for FeLV and heartworm. His estimated DOB is 5/17/2022.
