My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Onyx
My owner found me as a stray and kept me for two months before deciding to surrender me to the HSHC in September. We hadn`t established a very close relationship, so I am okay with being here while I wait for a permanent address. I am a female, 1.5-years-old short-haired cat who will be spayed before I go home. I came down with a cold not long after moving into a Roaming Room and, subsequently, all my roommates got sick as well. I am now back to health and living in a lovely condo. The interviewer lady (IL) has spent quite a bit of time with me and is confident in saying I am fantastic pet material! I may look a little raggedy, but with a healthy diet and brushing, I should look like a million bucks. My coat is black with a spot of white on my chest and white whiskers. The IL has experienced firsthand my friendly, curious, and affectionate personality. When I lived in the Roaming Room, I got along with all my roommates. Because I am careful to use my litter box and don`t have bad habits, I am hoping I will be chosen very soon. It will be nice to have a family to love again. 10-22-25

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
