My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

From Abandonment - To Rescue - To the Front Page - To Healing

Simon was pretty notorious in the Sidney, NE area for a while back in March when he was dumped by a truck driver at a truck stop. Hundreds of people followed the posts on social media of his plight, the photos of his multiple sightings in the first several days, and then his eventual rescue. It was a heartbreaking story of a dog suffering the ultimate betrayal and then spending days looking for his betrayer and then finally running in fear when that person couldn’t be found. He was terrified but kind. It was very difficult to witness and hear about.

Irregardless of the dedicated efforts of multiple caring individuals as well as law enforcement, Simon refused all help and eventually started wandering further and further. It wasn’t until he wandered into a fenced yard that he was captured; and then his story became front page news.

Simon is safe now, but his story is far from over. SIMON NEEDS A HOME!! Until then he’s just another dumped homeless dog. Is that what we want?

Simon has had his vaccinations and will be neutered and microchipped on the 24th. From there he needs his much deserved dedicated family.

Simon is a very nice and sweet dog. He is not destructive. Does well in a crate. He’s quiet. He’s potty trained. He is 100% dog friendly and non confrontational in any way. He may take a minute to warm up when meeting new people (who can blame him?) but he comes around fast. Cats are an unknown. He’s VERY interested and HIGHLY focused. But he doesn’t exhibit aggression. At this point it’s hard to say without a formal test. But my gut is saying a home without cats would be best.

If you are interested in Simon PLEASE reach out and apply. He’s very deserving and loyal and you will not be disappointed; I can assure you.

Sidenote: Simon is a dog worthy of his own Insta page, this guy doesn’t take a bad photo !!

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption fee which ranges based on age of the dog or cat. We also require a completed (and obviously accepted) adoption application, and home and reference checks. We don't do this to be nosey, but because when we bring an animal into our program we make a promise to that animal that they will go to the best home for them. We are more concerned with the quality of our adoptions than the quality
