Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Schwartz! ??
Schwartz is a big, handsome Shepherd/Rottweiler mix with an even bigger heart once he gets to know you. Like many dogs of his breeds, he’s loyal, smart, and protective — the kind of companion who bonds deeply with his people.
He can be a bit nervous around new faces at first, but give him some time (and a few treats!) and you’ll see his loving, goofy side shine through. Once you’re in his circle of trust, Schwartz will be your best friend for life.
This big guy loves his toys — especially when there’s a good game of fetch involved — and you’ll often find him zooming around the yard with his favorite squeaky in tow. Walks, treats, and playtime are his favorite parts of the day.
Schwartz does well with playful female dogs but would prefer a home without kids. He’s looking for a calm, patient adopter who understands large breeds and will give him the time and structure he needs to feel secure.
If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who will reward your patience with endless love and devotion, Schwartz might just be your perfect match. ?? If you are interested in meeting Schwartz, please reach out to foster@cuyahogacounty.gov to schedule a meet-and-greet with this amazing adoptable boy!

Have identification showing your current address
Have landlord permission to own a dog if you are a tenant
Meet and greet with any resident dogs or children 9 and under
Adoption Questionnaire
Before you can spend time with a dog, there is a brief questionnaire that you will need to fill out. Our staff will review these questions with you in order to help you decide which dog is the right fit for you, your family, and your lifestyle. This information is confidential and will be used only to assist our staff in determining the best possible placement. Please spend the time necessary to make the best possible decision for you AND the dog you may adopt.

The cost to adopt a dog is $95, $170 for a puppy. This includes:
DHLP, Parvo Vaccination, Rabies Vaccination and Bordatella
Heartworm test for age appropriate dogs

Although dogs receive initial vaccinations from us, please make an appointment to see your veterinarian within ten to 14 days after you take your new dog home for a complete and thorough physical examination, and to continue with vaccinations as necessary.
