Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Violet is a sweet, chirpy girl who’s come a long way during her time with us. She can be nervous at first, but once she warms up, she’s affectionate, social, and so ready to connect. She meows to say hello, comes right to the front of her kennel, and loves headbutting your hand for pets and cheek scratches. She’s also a big fan of rolling on her side to show off just how cute she is.
Violet has made huge progress. She was initially unsure with cleaning and new movements, especially anything involving a spray bottle, but with patience and positive interactions, she’s become much more comfortable. Now she reliably lets staff clean around her without issues, hops down eagerly when her food arrives, and even paws at you through the bars asking for attention.
Overall, Violet is a happy, social sweetheart who blossoms with gentle handling and a little time to trust. She’s curious, affectionate, playful in her own quiet ways, and so proud of herself for how far she’s come. She’s ready for someone who will appreciate her soft heart, her funny chirps, and her cuddles!
Violet is currently in a foster home. Interested in meeting me? Email foster@harfordshelter.org

More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Harford County, Inc., located in Fallston, Maryland, is a non-profit, open-admission animal support organization dedicated to providing shelter and care to the homeless, abandoned and abused animals of Harford County. We provide a safe and healthy temporary shelter and seek loving, permanent homes to ensure the long-term welfare of the animals we serve. Through education and advocacy, we promote the humane treatment of companion animals and work toward reducing, and ultimately eliminating, pet overpopulation in the county through low-cost spay and neuter programs.
We have welcomed more than 300,000 animals since 1946 and provide service to the community in conjunction with animal control to safeguard public health and safety. We strive to promote the special bond between humans and their companion pets in securing forever homes for our animals.
The Humane Society of Harford County serves nearly 4,000 animals each year. The animals include dogs, cats, ponies, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, bearded dragons, lizards, snakes, spiders, iguanas, turtles, ducks, turkeys, chickens, goats and pigs, to name a few. The majority of the animals we receive are cats (and kittens) and dogs (and puppies).
