Samba is a gentle and graceful cat with a calm presence. She tends to be on the quiet side, preferring to watch the world around her with thoughtful eyes. While she enjoys playtime in her own way, Samba is more about quiet companionship than constant activity. She loves finding cozy spots to nap, observing from a sunny perch, and offering her affection in a subtle, tender manner. Her peaceful nature makes her a comforting and steady companion.

More about this shelter
The Gateway Area Humane Society was established in 1982 with a deep commitment to protecting and improving the lives of animals in our community. In the early years, we operated without a physical facility, focusing our efforts on neglect and cruelty investigations, follow-ups, and rescuing animals from county shelters and directly from the public. Even then, our goal was clear: to provide care, compassion, and second chances to animals in need.
Over the years, we've grown into a full-service organization with a shelter and spay/neuter clinic, allowing us to expand our impact. We house both dogs and cats with the hope of helping them find their forever homes. We occasionally partner with out-of-state rescues to further our mission.
At the heart of everything we do is the belief that the only long-term solution to pet overpopulation is to promote spaying and neutering in every way possible. Through community education, accessible services, and dedicated rescue work, we remain committed to creating a safer, more compassionate world for animals—one pet at a time.
