If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
We got Bär (Bear) from the local humane society. He was found as a stray in the area with no chip and we believe no collar. We know nothing of his past prior to being picked up.
Initially Bär was very wary of strangers, especially men, and had attempted to nip at two different men on separate occasions. He has calmed down significantly and no longer barks at every noise, but he is very protective of myself and the house. If he met a stranger away from the house, he is alert and cautious, but very friendly and open. When meeting a stranger at home, his behavior can range from full alert and aggressive barking to excited sniffing and hoping.
Bär is easily excited and constantly needs to be in the middle of whatever is going on. He is very food motivated and did bite our daughter, we believe because he thought he was getting a treat and simply overreacted. His high energy is too much for our 3 cats but they all get along.
