My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I’m Hooch—your future co-pilot and easygoing best friend. I may be an older guy, but that just means I’ve perfected the art of being chill. I walk politely on leash, get along well with other dogs, and don’t ask for much—just some love, comfy spots to nap, and maybe a few car rides (those are my favorite!).
One important thing: I do not get along with kitties, so I would need a cat-free home. Otherwise, I’m the easiest companion you’ll ever meet. I’ll happily sit with you and watch the world go by out the window, or join you for a ride just to enjoy the view.
My adopters should know I have a few health quirks—I’m hypothyroid, and I have a suspected chronic spinal/orthopedic issue that makes my back legs a bit unsteady—so I get around best on carpets or rugs at home.
If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal buddy who’s past the puppy chaos stage and ready to be your steady sidekick, I’m your guy. Let’s hit the road together!
My adoption fee has been generously sponsored by a kind patron!

I am eligible for foster!

Additional adoption info

Our website, IndyHumane.org, is updated daily with pets who are available for adoption. Third-party sites, such as Adopt-a-Pet and others, are not accurate or reliable sources of information about our shelter pets. Please visit IndyHumane.org for more information and to check the status of a particular pet.
Each adoptable cat and dog has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Our adoption counselors are happy to share their behavioral and medical background with you during the application process!
We are a non-profit shelter with limited staff. Answers to common questions can be found at IndyHumane.org!

Go meet their pets

You can find up-to-date information on all of our available pets by visiting IndyHumane.org/Cats or IndyHumane.org/Dogs. Adopt-a-Pet is a third party site and not a source of reliable, updated information.

Our website is updated throughout each day, so if you see a pet on there that you are interested in, as long as their photo is on the website it means they are still available. Each profile will have a link for their online application. Please fill out an application for the pet you'd like to meet and a member of our team will contact you within 24-48 hours for more info and to schedule an intro. Thanks!
