My name is Rushmore and I am a friendly and talkative guy. I have tons of personality. I love chasing the ping pong ball and the laser pointer. After a play session, I will sit on your lap and take a nap. I like a nice brushing that feels like a gentle massage, especially on the top of my head. I close my eyes and relax.
At one time I was a stray, but since I was not claimed by my former family, I would love to become a part of a new family! I like people a lot and did you know that I give hugs? I also make biscuits.
I love sitting high on a cat tree in order to people-watch in PetSmart. When a dog walks by, I get scared and angry at the same time. I will require a home without dogs. I really like my chosen people and I do not want to share them with cats, either. My home will be just me and my human family!
You can visit me at A.R.F.’s cat center at the Wheaton PetSmart. I would love to get to know you and to see if we are a good match for each other.
Rushmore is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and litter box trained.

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Approve Application
Our application checkers will review the information you submitted. This step takes approximately 5 business days.
Meet the Pet
You will be invited to meet with the pet, usually at one of our Saturday adoption events: https://www.arf-il.org/events/
Sign Adoption Contract
We’ll walk you through the adoption paperwork and collect the adoption fee. Then your new best friend is yours!
