AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - LUNA OF CENTRAL FLORIDA

Luna is an adorable, playful and spunky girl who wants to be an 'only child'.   She's a terrific dog, energetic and healthy, who loves people; but she's not been socialized with other dogs and doesn't react well to them. She barks and wants them to stay away from her, although she eventually adjusted well with several small dogs in her foster home.  She's curious about other dogs but not ready for interaction with them, especially with male dogs.  She should probably be the only pet in the home. She has a strong prey drive and loves to chase squirrels, so a fully fenced yard is essential.

Luna is smart and clever; she learns quickly and needs an Eskie-savvy adopter that has time to train and socialize her. She was friendly with the children next door to the foster home but would probably prefer a home without children.
She's an Eskie mix with naturally short hair, a curled tail and brown ears, so she's very low maintenance and could be the perfect dog for someone that loves the eskie intelligence and personality, without needing to brush as often.
Luna loves playing ball (will even bring it back to you!), going for car rides, and watching TV with her foster mom. She's leash trained, house trained, well-behaved when left home alone, weighs 29 pounds, and is 3 years old. Luna is looking forward to her new beginning!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out our dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where they're being fostered).  Please note that ERU processes local applications before considering those that are farther away.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!

More about this rescue

Eskie Rescuers United (ERU) is made up entirely of volunteers. We don’t have any building or offices; we’re just a group of people who have opened up their homes to foster dogs that are in need. Our volunteers are spread across the Eastern United States, and we keep in contact by email, Facebook, and by telephone. No one is paid a salary and most of us have regular jobs in addition to our volunteer work for ERU. You can help us by being understanding if our volunteers are unable to pick up a dog, or deliver a dog to you, or do things as quickly as you might like. Most of us have to schedule these things around our job and other family commitments.

ERU does not make money by selling dogs. In fact, we lose money with each dog that we foster and adopt out. Most of our money is spent on vet care for our foster dogs. Donations and fundraising help make up the difference.

The dogs we foster come from many places. Some are turned in by their owners who can no longer care for them. Others are found as stray dogs, or for one reason or another they wind up in dog shelters. As you probably know, there are too many dogs without homes in the United States, and the majority of them have to be put to sleep due to overcrowded conditions in shelters. ERU works to save as many American Eskimo dogs that we can by rescuing them. We then foster the dogs in the volunteer’s homes, provide veterinary care, and put a profile for the dog on our website.

We do not "sell" dogs. We find homes for dogs and adopt the dog to you. This means that you cannot just walk off the street and buy a dog from us. You must put in an application to adopt a dog. We screen all of the applicants very carefully; checking references and doing home visits to make sure that the dog will be going to a good home. We try to find a good match between the applicant and the dog. It is a very happy day when a foster dog gets to go to their new home. Since our formation in March of 2003, we’ve adopted out over 3000 dogs. If someone adopts a dog from us and is unable to care for it in the future, we will accept that dog back and find it a new home. So a dog that is adopted through us will never go homeless.
