My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by a community member on September 26, 2025

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Esteban, a distinguished 9-year-old gentleman who has weathered some hard times but is now ready for brighter days ahead. He came to us by way of a community member, so we're still getting to know him, but here's what we've learned so far: Esteban takes a little time to warm up and can be a bit hard to read at first. He'll do best with a family that gives him patience, space, and the chance to come into his own. Esteban had some dental extractions in our care and they are healing nicely, but a follow up with your vet should be in the future! His handsome coat will also require regular brushing and trips to the groomer to keep him looking sharp. This refined fellow would love a quiet home stocked with the essentials: a soft, extra-fluffy bed, an abundance of treats, and unconditional love. Once you've won him over, you'll have a loyal companion who appreciates the finer things in life. Bring a leash, bring a collar, and bring Esteban home-you might just find he's the perfect gentleman for you.

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
