My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gureum – Our Snow-White Sweetheart!

Name: Gureum

Age: 10 months

Sex: Spayed Female

Breed: Terrier Mix

Color: White

Weight: 17.6kg

Height (to shoulder): 52cm

Rescue Story

Last December, a pregnant dog gave birth to three puppies on the streets. A kind resident, with help from an animal group, sheltered them at an abandoned gas station. Sadly, when the land was set for redevelopment, the family had nowhere to go. On March 17, they were all rescued. By late July, Gureum and her siblings arrived at AKR Center, where they’ve spent the past two months learning socialization, leash training, and preparing for their forever homes.

‍‍ Social with People

Gureum is affectionate and outgoing! She happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, leaning in for pets and rubs. She especially loves following anyone with treats in hand. She’s comfortable being picked up, enjoys playing with people, and her clever mind makes her a quick learner. If you’re looking for an energetic and smart companion who thrives on interaction, Gureum is your girl!

Social with Dogs

Gureum is friendly with other dogs and often greets strangers with a playful invitation. She gets along best with dogs her size and happily plays chase with high-energy friends. If another dog challenges her, she prefers to growl a warning and walk away rather than fight. With a playful canine buddy, she can go on for hours without tiring!

With Cats

She hasn’t lived with cats yet, but she can be tested if needed.

Energy Level

Active and lively outdoors—she loves to run and play. Indoors, she relaxes and rests calmly.

Walks

When she first arrived, she couldn’t walk on a leash at all. But after two months of practice, she now walks beautifully, following her handler without pulling.

Other Notes

• No food guarding toward people or dogs

• No separation anxiety

• Rarely barks

• Rides calmly in a kennel (but prefers to be carried into the car)

• Currently house-trained for outdoor potty

Gureum is affectionate, playful, and full of life—ready to bring endless joy to a family that will cherish her. If you’re looking for a loving, energetic, and clever companion, Gureum is waiting for you!

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.
