My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Elvira, a one-and-a-half-year-old Pit mix weighing 57 pounds.

Elvira is the kind of dog who makes you smile the moment you meet her. With her beautiful dark grey coat, expressive ears, and always-wagging tail, she radiates joy and affection. Elvira came to us after being hit by a car, but this tough girl bounced back fast! Thankfully, X-rays showed no broken bones, and she’s been making a speedy recovery ever since. Her spirit is as strong as her heart is big.

She’s friendly with everyone she meets – humans and dogs alike – and has already made a great impression on a doggy friend during her time here. Elvira lives for treats, loves attention, and will gladly be your shadow if it means more cuddles (and maybe a snack or two). If you`re looking for a loving, happy-go-lucky companion who’s overcome the odds and still greets life with a tail wag, Elvira is ready to meet you.

Did you know YHS offers a `Play Date` program?

Whether you are interested in adopting or just want to hang out with a furry friend, it`s a fun way to spend an hour, an afternoon or even a couple days. Every Play Date helps staff know more about a pet and helps a pet spend less time in a kennel. It`s a win-win! If you are interested in adoption, a play date is a great way to make sure you and your potential new pet are the perfect match. Stop by the front desk or call in and ask how to have your Play Date today.

Adoption Fees & Process
See current fees at www.yakimahumane.org
The adoption fees help offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the thousands of animals that need our help. We do our best to keep adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for animals available for adoption until we can place them in a loving home. Adoption fees help provide medical care, food and shelter to the animals in our care.
