Dog Name: Steve
Breed: mixed
Sex: male
Age: approx 4 months
Weight: 16.5 lbs
Medical Needs: Must be spayed/neutered by February 1, 2026. The spay/neuter appointment is included in the adoption fee at one of the clinics we use and the foster-to-adopt family will be emailed to request the appointment at the time of adoption at the clinic closest to them. (Options are Wilmington, Newark, Dover, Georgetown.) Keeping the appointment that’s assigned will be a condition of adoption. Foster to adopt families must live within one hour of DE and be willing to travel here for the pending appointment.
Housebroken: not yet but Steve is doing amazing with his lessons and still needs to go out every 4 hours to avoid most accidents. He does small queues and trying to learn to use a potty bell.
Crate trained: yes. He’ll fuss at first but when he realizes it’s nap time he’ll snuggle onto his bed.
Good in the car: yes! He curls up in his little dog bed and sleeps.
Good on a leash: he is learning! Steve wants to be where his people are, so he’ll follow you as you walk with the leash
Energy level: medium.
YES, he’s a puppy and has that puppy energy. But as soon as there’s a lap or snuggles available, he’s curled up close.
Dog Friendly: absolutely. Everyone is a friend
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No but he loves having a friend to play and snuggle with.
Cat Friendly: yes, his goal is to befriend all the kitties in the house. Even if they currently hiss and run away.
Kid Friendly: yes
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Old enough to understand that puppy nibbles will happen, and how to be gentle with the little guy
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them:
Steve is a cool dude. He makes little piggy grunts and his favorite thing in life is to snuggle. He loves to find the best sub spot to lay and play in the yard. Steve also enjoys playing with the resident dogs. He exudes confidence and love and has a well rounded personality along with being a good listener. Steve will melt your heart and bring you love and joy you never knew you needed. His ears also don’t know if they want to be up or down some days. Oh- he wanted me to make sure everyone knows how much he loves to be clothed and warm.
