UPDATE: If you are looking for a cat that will be your faithful companion, Quarry is it! She loves humans and is constantly hanging with her foster parents. She “helps” with folding clothes, making beds, cleaning, and even computer work. She will bring her favorite toy to be thrown and will fetch it to be thrown again over and over again. Her favorite time is lap time in the evening and will lay on a lap for as long as you will let her. When playing, she is good about not getting too rough with her teeth and claws. When the grandchildren are visiting (3-year-old and 10-month-old), Quarry will put up with being carried around and will chase any toy they pull around. The grandkids LOVE Quarry. She is very well behaved and gets along with other cats. Though she has never been exposed to dogs, she probably would learn to accept them in time.
Quarry here! This is what my foster mom has to say, "Quarry has grown up quite a bit and has discovered the joys of sleeping on a lap. She still loves to explore and play but also likes to be cuddled. When the grandchildren are visiting (3-year-old and 9-month-old), Quarry will play with both of them and will put up with being carried around and will chase any toy they pull around. The grandkids LOVE Quarry. She is such a sweet, fun kitten!" Contact steelecountyhumanesociety@gmail.com or call 507-451-4512 to find out how to meet me. My adoption fee is $200.

Currently, the SCHS does not have a shelter. We expect completion of our new building in early 2025. Until then, our animals live in foster homes where they are loved, socialized, and provided all veterinary services, including neutering and spaying until they are ready for their forever homes.
