My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This little rabbit was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in Clermont. She was given the name Chiara (pronounced Kiara), meaning “bright” in Italian, to celebrate the fact that, despite her unfortunate past, her future now looks bright! When she entered our care Chiara was found to have an E. Cuniculi infection in her eye. E. Cuniculi is a common disease found in almost 90% of rabbits and can manifest itself in a rabbit’s eye. After months of treatment the decision was made to remove the eye rather than having her live with chronic pain and eye infections - and Chiara’s most recent EC tests have been negative. Her vet believes that the infection was localized in her bad eye, and Chiara is now looking forward to her bright, EC-free future.

Chiara’s fur is a rich, multi-layered brown color called agouti. Her foster mom likes to refer to her as her “little woodland creature” because of her resemblance to a wild rabbit. Chiara is an exceptionally clean and tidy bunny and a good eater. She loves her hay and has not met a leafy green that she doesn’t like! She gets very excited about her rabbit-friendly treats and expresses her delight by prancing around. She also likes to put on a show with full-blown binkies and zoomies. Chiara is a tuned-in rabbit - she knows her name, and she likes a routine when it comes to her food service. She enjoys human company, and she is currently living contentedly with a cat. Chiara is not a big chewer but she likes to to sit high up and would probably like to hang out with her human on the couch. If you start petting her, be prepared to stay a while as she will melt into a pancake shape to provide optimum petting surface. This is a quiet and gentle bun who would do best in a quiet household where she can take her time and bond with her human.

We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions, or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don’t see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder!

Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.

Additional adoption info

For those that want to bond a new rabbit with an existing rabbit, we conduct bonding events where the home rabbit can meet several rabbits to find a potential match. We work with the adopting family to help ensure that the rabbits bond. We take back the adoptive rabbit if there is not a match.

Our adoption agreement specifies that we will take any adopted rabbit back, should the home situation change in the future.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based rescue where our available animals are kept in private homes.

You can see our rabbits online, then make an appointment to meet the rabbit(s) you select.

From time-to-time, we conduct adoption events where you can meet multiple rabbits. Because of RHDV2, these events have been paused.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue and educational group dedicated to the health, care and enjoyment of house rabbits. We believe that pet rabbits are family members and should be housed indoors, should be fed a healthy diet, should be spayed or neutered, and should receive quality medical care. Our organization strives to provide bunny parents with information to help them care for their rabbit.
