My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Health Status
✔ Neutered
✔ Fully vaccinated
✔ Microchipped
✔ Treated for Parasites
⟡ Undergoing treatment for heartworms

Thor is your classic Great Pyrenees gentle giant who embodies everything wonderful about his breed. This magnificent boy has mastered the art of being both impressively large and incredibly gentle, making him the perfect example of why Pyrenees are known as gentle giants.

What makes Thor truly special is his love for people and his playful spirit that shines through in everything he does. He's a social butterfly who genuinely enjoys meeting new friends and absolutely lives for attention and affection, melting into the happiest dog alive whenever he's getting love from his favorite humans. The only thing Thor is particular about is his snacks because this distinguished gentleman has developed quite refined tastes.

Currently, Thor is heartworm positive and undergoing treatment with a full recovery expected, making him one of our special Diamond in the Ruff dogs. His medical needs don't slow down his loving personality one bit, and he's searching for a family who can see beyond his temporary situation and recognize the incredible gentle giant he truly is.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of staff and volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
