Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Fang may look like a sleek little panther, but underneath that inky black coat is a total snuggle bug with a heart of gold. Fang and his brother Flint had a rough start to life. The pair were found living in a parking lot, where sadly, their third sibling was struck and killed by a vehicle. Thankfully, a compassionate grassroots rescue group stepped in and brought these boys to safety in mid-August. Since then, they've been growing up in a loving foster home, where they've blossomed into playful, affectionate kittens.
At first, Fang was shy and scared, unsure of this new world indoors. But with time, patience and a whole lot of love, he’s now a little sweetheart who can’t get enough of people.
Here’s what his foster mom says about him:
“Fang (and Flint) were scared and shy when they first arrived, but they’re fully socialized now… to the point that I have to lock them out of my office or they’ll both sneak in to demand attention! They love laying in front of my keyboard and sliding their heads under my hands while I try to type. Total snuggle bugs!”
🐾 Feline-friendly: Fang is comfortable and confident around other cats, and would do well in a home with existing feline-friendly companions.
👬 Adopted together: Fang and Flint need to be adopted as a pair. They are biological brothers and have been through so much together that they find comfort in the presence of each other. If you're thinking of adding two kitties to your home, adopting these siblings would be a sweet and rewarding choice.
You may have noticed a health waiver flag in Fang's file. This is due to a sensitive tummy. But please do not let this scare you away! Our dedicated medical staff have found a solution to settle his stomach. Our adoption consultant will discuss this with you to make sure that you have all of the information that you need to keep Fang feeling fit and fabulous! It is important to us that we set Fang and his adopter up for success in their life together.
✨ The Beauty of Black Cats
Unfortunately, black cats like Fang are often overlooked in shelters. But did you know black cats are considered symbols of luck and protection in many cultures? In ancient Egypt, they were revered. In Japanese folklore, they bring good fortune. In your home, they bring endless cuddles, curious companionship and a lifetime of love. Fang is proof that the best things come in mysterious, purring packages!
The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!

More about this rescue
Berea Animal Rescue Fund “ARF” began in 1987 as a small group of animal lovers started a ‘grassroots’ movement, recognizing the desperate housing and healthcare needs of homeless animals. Their efforts began in the southwest suburban Cleveland area, transforming a family’s garage into an animal "shelter."
The ARF movement grew when the city of Berea provided us a small building, utility costs included. In return, ARF would always have a cage open for the city’s stray animals. Now, after 20 years of service and thousands of success stories later ARF continues to save lives and make friends. ARF is operated in large part by a group of very dedicated volunteers who give their time and endless love to the shelter's furry residents.
Our next big goal is to position ourselves into a roomier facility…a more spacious home to the area's unwanted and abandoned animals. We believe no pet should be euthanized or left behind because lack of such a place. Our facility is overcrowded and outdated by today’s animal welfare standards. ONLY, through the generous support of the community and the dedication of our volunteers, can we make this dream a reality.
2007 was record breaking for ARF with both animals served and operating costs. Much help is needed!
The Berea Animal Rescue Fund “ARF” operates as a No Time Limit Shelter.
We are a 501(c) 3 Non Profit.
ARF's mission statement.... For the betterment of the lives of stray and abandoned animals, Berea’s Animal Rescue Fund, Inc. promises to:
Give loving care and companionship for as long as needed;
Provide shelter, food and medical necessities;
Seek quality homes through adoption programs;
Create public interest and awareness of animal rights and issues; and
Promote action and advocacy for all of the above.
