My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Oscar is a gorgeous Blue Merle, BC/Collie mix, about 60 lbs, lean and trim with long legs. He came into Rescue, after he was found chained in a yard with limited access to food and water. He was very skinny, with a gangly gait. With good food, and exercise he  has blossomed into a VERY handsome, silly, sweet boy.  As his muscles have developed, he has become agile, quick, and a fast runner.  He and his foster sister use the raised beds in the backyard as an obstacle course, darting and running around them when they play. Oscar loves to play with other dogs, and has been respectful, taking correction from foster sisters.

Oscar has has learned good house manners, and is house broken. He is kenneled when foster mom leaves the house, and has been kenneled at night. He is now allowed to sleep on a dog bed, with his foster sister in Mom’s bedroom. He has done well, and sleeps through the night.

This boy absolutely LOVES toys, bones, and more toys! He plays with toys in the house, will occasionally retrieve a toy for you to throw again. He gets excited meeting people, and is learning to calmly sit, and not jump up. He knows “look, sit,” and will wait for his food until released to eat. He does get excited going outside, and learning to sit and “wait” before going out the door. Oscar is a smart boy, and would enjoy an obedience class with his new family. He is eager to learn, and very treat motivated, taking them with a gentle mouth.

Oscar is getting much better on the leash, almost walking in a straight line most of the time.  He has learned what “wrong side” means when he darts behind foster mom, and corrects himself by reversing and coming back around to where he needs to be. He loves his walks! He does have a lot of energy, and would enjoy another playful dog in the family. He would be fine as a solo dog with an active family who will take him for walks, runs, hikes, or any adventure, to be a part of the family.

Oscar has a sweet, loving nature and loves being with his people. He does have an off switch, enjoying cuddles on the couch or curled up laying at your feet. Oscar has been okay with older kids. He may accidentally knock over small toddlers with his enthusiasm for life.

Oscar is neutered, up to date on vaccines, currently on preventatives for Heartworm, flea and ticks, being fostered in the Kansas City area.

Does Oscar sound like the perfect fit for your family? Complete an application for the opportunity to meet this wonderful dog. He is waiting for you!

Oscar is being fostered in the Kansas City, MO area.
