My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hugo may show off a bit of puppy energy in his kennel, but once he's outside, his true personality shines. He's easy to walk and enjoys taking in the world through his nose, though he may pull a little if he spots a small animal or another dog.

In playgroups, Hugo has done really well with female dogs. His greetings can be a bit awkward at first, but he has shown no signs of aggression and is respectful when other dogs set boundaries. He even met a shy, snarky dog who snapped at him, and he mostly ignored her. Hugo does have a playful, goofy side and can get a little overly enthusiastic with his canine friends, so he'll benefit from guidance and appropriate playmates.

Hugo enjoys treats and takes them gently, already knows "sit," and is eager to learn more with a patient, consistent handler. He recently went on an outing with a volunteer, who shared that he was initially unsure about getting into the car but quickly improved and rode nicely. On the outing, Hugo did not react to other dogs, goats, or chickens, and was very easy to walk, happily stopping to sniff along the way.

If you're interested in learning more about Hugo, please reach out to our Volunteer Matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Hugo 262797."

Hugo is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.
