My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ratatouille! This 7-year-old black beauty is currently thriving in a foster home, where her gentle personality truly shines. Ratatouille is a shy but incredibly sweet little girl who will need time and space to adjust to new surroundings—but once she does, she’ll reward you with endless affection, we promise!

She leans into pets, happily kneads her bedding, and has always been calm, sweet, and gentle with her caregivers. Ratatouille also gets along well with other cats, making her a lovely companion for a quiet, patient home.

If you believe the best love is the kind you earn, Ratatouille just might be your perfect match.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Harford County, Inc., located in Fallston, Maryland, is a non-profit, open-admission animal support organization dedicated to providing shelter and care to the homeless, abandoned and abused animals of Harford County. We provide a safe and healthy temporary shelter and seek loving, permanent homes to ensure the long-term welfare of the animals we serve. Through education and advocacy, we promote the humane treatment of companion animals and work toward reducing, and ultimately eliminating, pet overpopulation in the county through low-cost spay and neuter programs.

We have welcomed more than 300,000 animals since 1946 and provide service to the community in conjunction with animal control to safeguard public health and safety. We strive to promote the special bond between humans and their companion pets in securing forever homes for our animals.

The Humane Society of Harford County serves nearly 4,000 animals each year. The animals include dogs, cats, ponies, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, bearded dragons, lizards, snakes, spiders, iguanas, turtles, ducks, turkeys, chickens, goats and pigs, to name a few. The majority of the animals we receive are cats (and kittens) and dogs (and puppies).
