My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Suzy is a gorgeous 1-year-old shepherd mix with a heart of gold and the sweetest, gentlest soul. Though she’s a nervous girl at first, she’s also incredibly happy, loving, and eager to bond with her people. In her foster home, Suzy has been blossoming beautifully—she gets along wonderfully with all the dogs and cats, and she’s slowly expanding her comfort zone, choosing to spend more time in the main room instead of staying in her safe space. She’s a bit of a picky eater, preferring wet food, and she absolutely adores her foster parents, trusting them fully and showing her silly, playful side more each day.

Suzy is doing amazing with potty training, and she’s even starting to enjoy playing fetch with a tennis ball. She’s not a big fan of the crate, but with treats and patience, she’ll go in when needed. On walks, she’s a completely different dog, relaxed and happy as long as she doesn’t encounter strangers. She does have some stranger danger and will bark at new people, but with space, respect, and time, she calms down and will approach on her own terms. Suzy would thrive in a calm home with a confident dog to show her the ropes, and she’d prefer a household without children or young teens due to her anxiety. With patience, love, and a gentle approach, Suzy will reward her forever family with endless loyalty, sweetness, and joy.

All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.
